Glossip: A Lavish Wedding At Adare Manor

Fernando Klein and Gary Quane got married at Adare Manor on October 27th 2023 with 165 guests in attendance. See every detail…

The Couple:

Fernando Klein & Gary Quane

Fernando moved to Ireland 16 years ago in 2007 from his home city of Porto Alegre in Brazil. He came to Dublin primarily to learn and study English but from the moment he arrived he fell in love with the country and felt right at home. Starting out as a kitchen porter in The Fitzwilliam Hotel, he worked across many roles in the hospitality industry including being a VIP Guest Butler all while studying for his degree in Accounting & Finance from Griffith College. Today Fernando is General Manager for the Trinity Townhouse Hotel and his experience in luxury hospitality is where he developed his eye for detail and love for the finer things in life.

Gary grew up in a small area in County Limerick called Caherdavin, he studied and obtained a degree in Business & French at the University of Limerick before moving to Dublin where he also worked in hospitality. After a year abroad teaching English in Dubai and some time travelling in Australia, Gary returned to Ireland to pursue his career in financial services. Based in Dublin and working internationally in private banking, Gary’s career has gone from strength to strength.

It was at the famous LGBTQ+ club night Mother where the boys first met, Gary approached Fernando, the pair got chatting, exchanged numbers and the rest was history. Fast forward to September 2021, Fernando and Gary started the process to find a home of their own. After viewing the first and only property they decided it was the one for them and they had to have it, an old boys school built in 1795 and converted in recent years into a number of luxury gated townhouses in the city centre. It was here in the summer of 2022 on their outdoor terrace where Gary got down on one knee to take Fernando by surprise with a custom diamond encrusted Cartier Love ring from Paris. It wasn’t long after that the boys set a date for the wedding, October 2023, and without any hesitation and with Gary’s roots in Limerick it was an easy decision for them to book one of their favourite venues, Adare Manor.

Friday 27th of October 2023 marked exactly 16 years to the day that Fernando moved to Ireland and so the wedding date was set.

The Style:

Fernando flew to New York to be fitted at the Tom Ford atelier for his bespoke ivory tuxedo jacket and contrasting black wool trousers which he paired with black patent leather Christian Louboutin loafers. For the evening Fernando changed into a second look, a full Valentino ivory suit with a sheer black top underneath and embellished Jimmy Choo loafers to finish the look.

Gary wore a black wool mix made-to-measure Tom Ford tuxedo with a satin jacket lapel and trouser side stripe complete with a pair of lace up Christian Louboutin loafers. A gold and diamond brooch heirloom passed down by his late grandmother was worn inside his jacket.

The Best Men (Eoghan and Rudy) wore velvet tuxedos also by Tom Ford with Christian Louboutin loafers. The Matrons of Honour (Reggie and Josephine) wore pink floor length sequin dresses by Retrofête with silver Aquazzura heels and Oscar De La Renta jewels.

It was a glamorous black-tie affair with guests dressed in the finest attire from Balmain, Bottega Veneta and Dolce & Gabbana to Prada, Jenny Packham, Ralph Lauren Collection and so much more.

The Ceremony:

The ceremony took place in the ballroom at Adare Manor. Guests were seated either side of an ivory carpeted aisle lined with fresh flowers and floating candles leading up to a bespoke-built ivory stage with a draped silver suede backdrop. The stage was set with tall floral arrangements on top of white plinths that gradually increased in height to meet a collection of glass vases and candles in the middle.

Gary stood at the top of the room watching as Fernando walked down the flower lined staircase and up the aisle with his mum, Rejane. Celebrant and aunt of Gary, Karen Dunne lead the ceremony while brother Brian Quane performed on a baby grand piano alongside cousins Lucia and Billy Dunne who sang renditions of ‘Feels Like Home To Me’ and ‘You’re Still The One’.

Page Boy Conor and Flower Girl Olivia delivered the Tiffany & Co. wedding bands before the ceremony came to a conclusion and the recessional played out.

The Reception:

The drinks reception took place in the beautiful Maigue Suite, guests enjoyed Champagne, cocktails (Margaritas, Caiprihinas, Cosmos), pints of Guinness with the F&G wedding logo printed on top and a selection of canapés as Nova Quartet played classical strings with a modern twist in the background a la Bridgerton. Guests found their name on the large antique gilded mirror table plan towards the end of the reception, each table was named after one of Fernando & Gary’s favourite hotels from around the world.

The Décor:

During the drinks reception the ballroom was transformed from the earlier enclosed ceremony space to a fully opened up room for an evening disco inspired soiree. The staging and lighting was enhanced for the theme, a full 3D mirror dance floor which was ferried over from London was laid and a ceiling rig with dancing gold and mirror disco balls was installed.

The guest tables had a mix of tall and low centrepieces featuring a colour palette of white, champagne and dusty pink florals with accents of gold along with lots of candles in varied heights and a sign showcasing a watercolour visual of the facade of each hotel table name.

Mini paper scrolls with gold calligraphy were used for the guest place names and each setting contained a French blue folio menu with a gold foil Adare Manor illustration on the front closed with a F&G logo wax seal. The ballroom was fragranced with ‘Baies’ by Diptyque and the bathrooms featured Chanel toiletries and essentials for every eventuality.

The Menu:

On the menu for the evening was Smoked Duck Breast Salad with Orange, Pine Kernels and Torched Sweetcorn. A G&T Sorbet with Method and Madness Gin and Tonic Water. A choice of Fillet of Irish Beef with Charred Roscoff Onion, Burnt Leek Powder, Pommes Anna and Vin Jus or Sea Bass with Roasted Cauliflower Puree with Braised Baby Fennel and Brown Shrimp Velouté. Followed by a Praline Choux Bun with Praline Mousse, Caramelised Hazelnuts and Pop Corn Ice Cream.

The Atmosphere:

165 guests travelled from all corners of the world including Brazil, Canada, Dubai, Spain, United States and Asia. The venue, glamourous dress code, excited guests, cocktails, entertainment and themed decor all made for a very chic celebration. Guests were calling it the “The Gay Wedding Of The Year”. There was a refined sophisticated mood for the ceremony and drinks reception then a definite disco party atmosphere for the evening.

The Details:

After the meal and speeches there was a special Irish dancing performance by River Dance, it featured some bespoke choreography with a performance of Kylie Minogue’s Padam Padam. This was a spectacle especially for the guests who travelled from Brazil and abroad.

Fernando and Gary wanted an element of pride to be visible and so the outdoor terrace was decorated with soft furnishings and lighting in the pride colours.

In the later hours of the wedding, guests could use two social media/photo moments, one was a 360 degree camera which captured guests in slow motion as a cannon shot out gold confetti, the other was a static photo booth capturing chic black and white images that guests could print out or send to their phone.

The Post-Event Celebrations:

Fernando and Gary hosted a day two celebration in The Carriage House at Adare Manor for 60 guests, this was an informal afternoon celebration with relaxed music and a buffet style service.
