Game, set, match! What a thrill to hit the ball again! As Wimbledon pings into our TV screens today, tennis players all round Ireland are easing back into the game. Socialising is limited but players are delighted to talk to each other across the net between points. Competitive players are hoping for the return of some matches this summer.

Everyone’s warming up properly, aware their knees may not be in the best shape – no one wants to get injured now that they’re back on the court. If you are looking for a few new pieces, retro tennis gear is trending. Jupp Sport, designed by UK tennis coach and former Junior player Maddie Jupp, is a stylish, 1970s-inspired tennis line, affordable yet luxurious and cut to flatter.

Off the court, we love the classic tennis sweater: an off-white cable-stitch knit pullover with a V-neck and coloured bands. Check out Victoria Beckham’s version, while By Malene Birger’s rib-knit polo top is sublime. Tory Sport is our go-to, and also check out Margaret Howell’s cotton piqué polo shirt collab with Fred Perry, the company founded by the triple Wimbledon champ. Wear it tucked into slouchy white pants, or jeans or tailored shorts.
