Whilst sales of joggers and sweats are at an all time high (with the exception of Juicy Couture duo Pamela Skaist-Levy and Gela Nash-Taylor’s infamous Juicy tracksuit which they custom made for Madonna in 2001 and have re-released this year), the #wfh wardrobe essentials are not quite what you want to wear for a garden soirée. So, with the end of school term in plain sight and summer very much on the horizon, it’s starting to feel like it’s time to glam up, even if it is for the back garden.

What to wear? A fabulous summer dress. The type you might choose to wear now might look quite different to your normal going out get-up. Look for comfortable, lightweight and more delicate fabrics. Florals for summer may not be groundbreaking but they sure feel fun and feminine right now; both darker and lighter grounds will work. Err on the boho-style side and choose maxi lengths, weirdly they are less formal than other lengths in a home setting. A little bit of shimmer goes a long way. Universally flattering square-necks and balloon sleeves dresses with high waists (even more flattering) are in, skater and form-fitting frocks are out, in this situation. Layer up on gold accessories and choose a shoe that’s chic yet sassy enough to wear with such a dress but make sure it is comfortable enough for the garden. Or go barefoot …
