Five of the Best Barbecue Kits to Order This Weekend

Pray for sun, plan for rain, that’s my motto. Either way, any one of these barbecue boxes will have you covered this weekend, whether you cook it outdoors or in the oven, they are still bound to be delicious. A first taste of summer for the bank holiday weekend.

The Seriously Smokin’ BBQ box from Luttrellstown Castle

This mouth-watering barbcue kit from Luttrelstown Castle is sure to impress and contains a host of goodies to feed a posse. Boneless Korean chicken thighs with sesame seeds and gochujang glaze, smoked frankfurter sausage, Irish flat iron steak with miso butter, Irish beef and duck fat burger and jumbo chicken wings. The kit also comes complete with a range of sides including a classic Caesar salad, heirloom tomato, watermelon and mint salad, roasted baby potatoes with chilli and lime butter, oxtail and chorizo mac and cheese, homemade focaccia and sourdough bread. There are also dips of roast garlic and parsley aioli, hot sauce and smoked barbecue sauce. Add ons include mini desserts such as a lemon meringue tart and pistachio opera gateaux, drinks and wine. The Seriously Smokin BBQ Box is available to order now and will be available every Friday – Sunday with collection from 10am-4pm. Box for two is €45 and for four is €90. Delivery is also available.

Etto BBQ Feast

There is something seriously impressive about a whole fish cooked over fire and the Etto BBQ Feast is just that – impressive. Nibble your way through goodies such as Le Levain baguette, smoked almonds, Nocellara olives, a salumi selection and house pickles before moving on to whole sea bass stuffed with oyster mushroom, spinach and samphire with a lemon glaze and brochette of gambas and padrón peppers with chilli, white wine and garlic butter, finished with roasted fish bone sauce. There is a selection of salads on the side and dessert is orange posset, elderflower poached rhubarb and honeycomb. The entire menu comes with instructions and can easily be cooked indoors if the weather refuses to play ball.

The Deluxe BBQ Box from Éalú Experiences

Presented in a bespoke chilled Éalú gift box, the deluxe BBQ box from Éalú serves six people and includes a veritable feast of Japanese style chicken legs, Teriyaki beef skewers, Irish beef burgers with all the trimmings including smoked Knockanore cheese, baby gem lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, FX Buckley burger sauce and brioche buns. Also included in the deluxe box are rib-eye steaks from FX Buckley, corn on the cob with chimichurri sauce, rosemary and garlic potato wedges, beetroot slaw, and chive sour cream. Dessert, if you still have room, is in the form of peaches with almond butter. The deluxe box is €95 and there is also a classic box at €55 and a family box, also €95.

Feast at Home BBQ Box

Kildare-based Feast at Home have a selection of meal box options for the Bank Holiday weekend, and they are all equally decadent. The BBQ box for two or four people kicks off with carpaccio of galia melon with Prosciutto Di San Daniele (D.O.P), followed by a choice of either 24oz chargrilled tomahawk Irish Angus steak or Jacob’s ladder of Angus beef ribs with a ginger, lemon pepper and molasses sticky barbecue glaze followed by chicken skewers and twelve hour pork belly confit with a cumin, ginger and chilli rub and Pico de gallo. Sides include flame roasted sweet potato wedges and a selection of salads and to finish, a selection of desserts. There is also the option to add cocktails to your order. The BBQ box for two is €74 and for four, is €130 with delivery available in Dublin, Kildare, Meath, Wicklow, Laois and Carlow, or collection is also available from their Clane base.

The Bombay Pantry BBQ Box

Fans of The Bombay Pantry will be delighted to hear that they have recently launched a summer barbecue box with a selection of skewered marinated meats, breads, dips and salads which feeds four-five people. Given the Indian tradition of cooking over fire, the BBQ Box is bound to work beautifully on your barbecue and is a very reasonable €55. Graze on the crunchy dry roasted Chana before feasting on lemon, fenugreek and fennel chicken and vegetable skewers, paprika and coriander corn on the cob and homemade naan among (many) others.
