Switching to a more sustainable way of dressing (and shopping) isn’t always easy – but it can be, if you know where to look. so where to find trend-led fashion without the guilt? We asked Kara O’Sullivan, founder of fashion rental company greens are good for you to share how and where she finds sensational, sustainable pieces online …
I’ve always been fashion obsessed but in the last few years I have become more and more conscious of how my shopping addiction is becoming unhealthy – and not just for my bank account! The importance of sustainability in fashion is undeniable and unavoidable.
I’m delighted to say that I now shop about 90 per cent pre-loved and will never look back. Finding vintage pieces from luxury brands like Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Dolce & Gabbana is now possible with a quick scroll through my favourite apps and re-sale sites. There is no feeling that will ever compare to the thrill of discovering that rare, one-of-a-kind, vintage piece on Vestiaire that nobody else can have. It has helped my style evolve to become more “me” and individual than ever before. Having no major guilt when going on a spending spree is even better.
I’ve put together my current wish list, and I could not be more excited to share it with you. Each item is either a closet staple, a serious stand-out piece or a true hidden gem! From rental services to pre-loved platforms and up-and-coming Irish designers, it’s a mix of trend-led fashion pieces you can shop without the guilt. So run, don’t walk… these pieces won’t stick around for long.
