Everything You Need To Know About Make-up Artist Lisa Eldridge Beauty

Our top picks from Victoria Beckham, Kate Winslet and Dua Lipa’s favourite make-up artist …

Despite how crowded the beauty space has become, Lisa Eldridge always manages to stand out due to her expert in-depth knowledge of application methods and genuine passion for the process.

She’s responsible for countless beauty looks on the covers of magazines since the ’90s and was one of the first make-up artists to embrace YouTube, posting now trending tutorial videos. Her channel is a fountain of practical beauty tips, full of demos of looks that are easy to recreate, even for a novice. Her authenticity shines through and you can tell that she has years of experience under her belt.

Among a sea of salesy influencers, Eldridge continues to donate 100 per cent of the advertising revenue from her channel to charity and makes tutorials solely to share her personal favourites from the beauty world.

NO MAKE-UP MAKE-UP

The queen of the minimal make-up trend (along with Bobbi Brown, of course) even manages to make a smoky eye look subtle. When everyone else was going for heavy contour and laminated eyebrows, she continued to promote enhancing your natural features with simple tricks and smart product placement … on your face, that is! If you have seen any of her videos, you will notice how little product she actually uses. Even Victoria Beckham was surprised after a shoot with Lisa, commenting how little product had been applied when she removed her make-up.

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

Eldridge began her career assisting on make-up counters, while training in photographic make-up artistry. After working on a shoot with Cindy Crawford, the supermodel loved the look so much that it led to her being requested for more covers and campaigns. Eldridge’s ability to make women look beautiful without appearing heavily made up or overdone has made her one of the most in-demand make-up artists in the world, especially with celebrities who can have their pick of glam teams. She has since worked with some of the best fashion photographers in the world such as Tim Walker, Mert and Marcus, and Mario Testino.

THE TRAJECTORY

She then served as No7’s creative director for a decade, responsible for the successful relaunch of the brand. Under her direction, she helped to redevelop formulas and elevate the name with a more refined image. Following roles at Chanel and Shisedo, and after releasing a book, Eldridge decided it was time to launch her own line, while continuing as Lancome’s global creative director.

OUR TOP PICKS

Her extensive knowledge of formulations and ingredients shows in her collections, with her products gliding on seamlessly and blending into the skin effortlessly. Inspired by her signature natural make-up style, check out our favourites below (available at Space NK or www.lisaeldridge.com, with free EU shipping over €59).

Lightweight Concealer

Next time you experience a breakout, you will be delighted to have this concealer pencil on hand. Sometimes, when we try to hide blemishes with thick liquids it ends up looking even more obvious, which is why we love how effective yet lightweight this pencil is. Suitable for all skin types, this pencil camouflages spots, redness and imperfections with its intense pigments. The waterproof formula stays put for hours and only takes seconds to apply.

Eyeshadow Made Simple

This liquid lurex eyeshadow creates a stunning eye look in seconds. The silky texture goes across the lid like butter and has a pearly shimmer finish that instantly illuminates the eye area. I’m a big fan of liquid shadows as they don’t settle into fine lines, but instead leave the skin looking dewy and fresh, as opposed to powders that tend to cake and crease on mature skin.

Luxurious Lips

This liquid lip gloss has a universally flattering soft matte finish, which gives it a timeless look while still feeling comfortable to wear. The formula has been infused with vitamin E to ensure your lips stay moisturised. It also contains marine algae and pomegranate extract to help protect against external aggressors. The specially designed wand makes it easy to apply and touch up throughout the day. It comes in an array of warm earthy tones that enhance the shape of your lips while maintaining a natural look.

Staple Lipstick

This semi-sheer lightweight lipstick is an essential. The shade range contains a collection of modern hues such as rosy nudes, latte browns and rich reds. Just one swipe of this satin finish colour is enough to give your lips definition, but it can also be built up to full coverage for a more statement look.

Blur And Blend

Give your make-up that soft-focus finish with this universal blending brush that can be used to blur eyeshadow, blusher and contour lines. Created by Japanese artisans, this tapered brush removes excess product, diffuses streaks and prevents caking. When you have completed your look, use this brush to go over your entire face in small circular motions to leave your skin looking seamlessly blended.

Spray And Set

This hydrating skin enhancing mist is the product you didn’t know you needed. It combines biopolymer network Filmexel to set make-up in place, with aloe vera leaf juice and niacinamide to soothe skin and support the skin barrier. It can also be used throughout the day to refresh your skin and give your make-up that freshly applied look. We recommend this spray for all day events such as weddings.
