Macarons and matcha? A match(a) made in heaven! Beloved Irish Mafia Matcha and iconic French patisserie Ladurée are collaborating for a tasting experience for one-week only when you can enjoy a complimentary matcha (latte or iced) with a macaron or cake. Founded by Liza Takvarava, Mafia Matcha partners with over 100 café across the country, so this is your chance to learn more about the benefits of matcha and the story behind Ireland’s fastest-growing matcha brand.

The Matcha Bar, Powerscourt Townhouse, South William Street, Dublin 2

After spotting a gap in the market, owner Elaine Fitzsimons’ Instagram explains it all; “Ireland’s first matcha café. No refined sugar. No fake flavours. Just real ingredients. Everything made in-house.” Initially opening with a pop-up in Powerscourt Centre, The Matcha Bar is now a permanent fixture, with Elaine travelling to Japan last year to source unique suppliers. The café offers an assortment of matcha, with pistachio, blue vanilla, and iced strawberry and mango proving to be their most popular. Their matcha is also available to buy on their online shop, while the pop-up can be booked for events for everyone to enjoy.

OMMA Matcha Pop-Up, Planet Beauty, Clarendon Street, Dublin 2

OMMA café at Planet Beauty Brown Thomas showcases an exciting line-up of matcha-based drinks alongside authentic Japanese flavours like hojicha latte and sobacha. Treats including fruit sando, mochi, yuzu buns and matcha genmai chocolates complete the sensory experience. Kaph, Drury Street, Dublin 2

A hip, independent coffee shop located on two floors in Dublin’s creative quarter, Kaph is a popular destination for specialty coffee, including their bespoke 3fe Coffee, plus their famous Koyu matcha latte that’s been called “the best matcha latte in town” that’s also available to buy in store. It has the kind of laidback vibe that guarantees a chill playlist to sit back and sip your chosen beverage in peace.

One Kinda Folk, Dartmouth Road & Leeson Street Upper

Take a trip to one of the two locations around Dublin for an expertly-made matcha. The striking blue matcha is made entirely from dried butterfly pea flowers ground into a powder, completely caffeine-free. Paired with One Kinda Folk’s lavender mix, hot or iced it’s smooth, creamy, floral and earthy.

Smooch Café & Dessert Bar, Dundrum Shopping Centre, Dublin 16

Smooch is renowned for all things matcha and, most importantly, alternative milks are included in the price. From the special menu, try their lavender iced matcha for a floral flavour, or a fruity blend of matcha and blueberry or their signature strawberry foam. Sweet lovers will love a matcha softserve ice-cream with fresh strawberries and coconut shavings or a matcha and white chocolate cookie. Yum!
