Dry Skin? Here Are 5 Of The Best Oils And Creams For T-Shirt Weather

We’re starting to bare our legs and arms at last – and boy is our skin dry. Here are five body creams and oils we’ve tried and tested – these are your best bet for relieving dry skin, from under €8 …

FOR A SPEEDY DAILY SKIN DRINK

Bag yourself a bottle of Aveeno Daily Moisturising Body Lotion (€8.99 for a generous 300ml), or else the very handy After-Shower Mist (€7.99) – just spritz onto damp skin, it soaks in immediately – and it will last you the summer, however lavishly you apply it. Quick to use, calming on the skin and gently effective. www.aveeno.ie and Boots nationwide.

FOR MULTITASKING MOISTURISING

CeraVe have a new Hydrating Foaming Oil Cleanser. You can use it on both body and face, wherever you have dry skin, and it is designed to gently cleanse your skin while also moisturising it with ceramides and squalane. Emerge from the shower with soothed skin and dry patches banished. €12.50 at pharmacies nationwide.

Another option is L’Occitane’s beautifully luxurious Almond Shower Oil, now refillable (head to the Wicklow Street refill station to do it in person, or pick up an eco-refill pouch in stores nationwide). €22.50.

FOR EXTREME SKIN SCENARIOS

Emu oil has to be one of the strangest ingredients we’ve tried. It’s an omega-rich active oil that can apparently help restore the skin barrier function. It features in Amuline Lipogel (cruelty-free), which is all about moisture levels; if the skin barrier becomes compromised it can lead to dry and irritated skin. Irish company Citrine Healthcare’s Amuline Derma range is formulated to give relief to those prone to dry skin, or conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and rosacea. At pharmacies nationwide, €19.95; www.citrinehealthcare.com

FOR A VEIL OF SOFT SCENT

Chanel’s Coco Mademoiselle Velvet Body Oil is a luxurious take on moisturising. Spray it on, and you not only get satiny skin with an expensive-looking sheen, but also it doubles as a light scent. This is how to justify your spend, via cost-per-use logic. €70, at counters nationwide.
