A Trio of Detox Packages Designed to Pamper and Kickstart a New Mindset

In need of an escape to help ward off the January blues? A stay at any of these destinations offers a break of pure pamper and relaxation …

The Superstart Package at Castlemartyr Resort

“Since March 2019 people have been in a state of flux, so we created this package with purpose, for people who might need some enjoyable motivation to kickstart their healthier new year,” says spa manager Aoife Daly. Designed to establish new habits and face the new year with energy and focus, the three-day package starts with a “Detox & Relax” session on the first day. After checking into the resort, there is a two-hour detoxing spa treatment which is followed by a yoga session tailored to your level – whether beginner or seasoned pro either al fresco (weather permitting) or in the state-of-the-art gym. It goes without saying guests have full use of the impressive facilities which include a heated indoor pool, steam room, sauna, jet pool as well as vitality and relaxation lounges. In the evening there is a leisurely dinner in the fine-dining Bell Tower restaurant. Day two starts after breakfast (overlooking Mitchell’s Lawn) with a personal training session. The trainer will assess your fitness level and personal goals and give advice on how to achieve these goals at home with a tailored fitness regime. Afterwards, there is a further two-hour energising spa treatment. A leisurely lunch is included. On the final day, guests enjoy breakfast before checking out (feeling revitalised) with a tailored wellness plan. The one-person package includes all mentioned activities, two nights’ luxury hotel accommodation, an evening meal on both nights and breakfast each morning, from €1,840. The two-person package is from €2,390; www.castlemartyrresort.ie.

The Basenfasten Detox at Screebe House

Screebe House is offering an innovative “Basenfasten Retreat”, which combines the benefits of an alkaline detox with the rejuvenating spa facilities. Adjacent to the hotel is the Spa Lodge featuring an indoor saltwater pool and outdoor hot tub, overlooking the Atlantic – the perfect place to unwind. The seven-day programme (with six nights’ accommodation) has been carefully curated and planned in tandem with chef Maximillian Schindler. Only food – mainly fruit and vegetables – that can be 100 per cent metabolised is consumed during the week but that doesn’t mean meals are boring. Says chef Max, “It’s exciting as a chef to be challenged by these limitations and create spectacular meals for our guests using the freshest and best quality local produce.” The retreat includes freshly prepared breakfast, lunch and dinner each day, two seaweed bath treatments, two yoga classes, one meditation class and a full body massage from €1,999 per person sharing. Screebe will be running the Basenfasten Detox until May and reopens on February 11; www.screebe.com.

The Health Club at The Shelbourne

The Health Club at The Shelbourne is linked to the hotel’s Spa, with a swimming pool, sauna, steam room, dance studio and a gym area where personal training and a range of classes is offered. Currently on offer is its tempting “Wellbeing Resolutions” for those who want to get moving and get energised, and there are also some lovely pampering offers from The Spa. One of these is the “Detox and Revitalise” treatment which includes full body brushing, a detoxing mud wrap and a 60-minute full body massage. The best part? Relaxing afterwards with a detox drink in the plush relaxation room overlooking St Stephen’s Green. €195; www.TheShelbourne.com.
