ON WORK: After leaving British Vogue in 2017, where I was fashion director for 25 years, I co-founded two new businesses: an online lifestyle and fashion platform, Collagerie, with former Vogue colleague Serena Hood, and a fashion label, Colville, with collaborators I had previously worked with at Marni – Molly Molloy and Kristin Forss. Collagerie recently raised over £750,000 in a crowdfunding round (alongside investment from other big names in retail, and experienced angels) which will be used to grow our US audience and enhance tech and UX on the site.
ON HOME: Home is a terraced house in Shepherd’s Bush in West London, where I have lived with my husband for over 30 years, and where we raised our three sons.
ON MY DESK: My desk is very messy. It’s in one of the smallest rooms in the house – a light-filled studio, complete with a circus-style, red-and-white tented canopy, which serves as an office when I am at home. But our Collagerie office is close by. It’s a lovely, bright space with colourful lamps and a graphic green rug from The Rug Company that I love.
ON DESIGN INSPIRATION: I have a compulsion to create. I’m a bit bonkers and find inspiration everywhere, I am in ‘Receive Mode’ all the time. I get my ideas from the world around me.
