Cool New Cafés In Belfast

These new spots are all about quality coffee …

Black Sheep Coffee, Donegall Square East, Belfast

The first Black Sheep in Ireland in the recently renovated Pearl Assurance House, following a £1m investment by hospitality group Bannon. With over 100 stores in the UK, US and Dubai, the 99-seater café is the first to sell speciality-grade Robusta beans on the market, as well as seasonal drinks, pastries and cakes.

Nine Squared, Queen Street

Open in a new location in the Printworks Building, Nine Squared’s cool interior design by We Are Maven matches founder Sean McDonnell’s coffee expertise. This 35-seater hub in the centre of Belfast serves signature brews from speciality quality roaster Origin and a selection of locally baked goods from Bakari Bakery.

The Highwayman, Upper Newtownards Road, Belfast

This new “shot-slinging brew spot” is the brainchild of 26-year-old coffee enthusiast Josh Bell, inspired by his Texan heritage. Bell realised a lifelong dream in 2022 by opening Coffee Rustler in his hometown of Bangor and has since branched out. Dog-friendly too, so bring your pooch with you!

Native Coffee, Queen’s Quay, Belfast

Following a successful start in a horsebox trailer on Minerstown Beach, Native Coffee’s new kiosk in its new location serves speciality coffee, and locally supplied baked goods and pastries. Hosting a variety of independent businesses and artists from across Northern Ireland, sipping your coffee has never felt more like a community experience.
