After a few years languishing behind skincare in terms of sales, this season colour makes a comeback with some exciting launches …
Make-up is back with a bang, all guns blazing: think full-strength, radiant colour and an ultra-luxurious approach. Think about investing in just one exceptional item, one that will delight you every day. La Beauté Louis Vuitton, the fashion house’s first beauty collection, has legendary Pat McGrath as its creative director. It’s decadent in the extreme, with the LV Rouge Complete Lipstick retailing at €140, and eye colour palettes at €220. This is extravagant beauty, with an eye on sustainability – refills cost €60-€80.

The autumn collection from Hermès is as quirky, beautifully designed and colour-savvy as ever, with vibrant lip colours in tones of rose and fuchsia (also refillable).

And Chanel’s limited edition eye palettes, inspired by the fashion house’s decorative buttons, are almost too exquisite to use. At €82 each, these are mini artworks that call for a display case.
More accessible, Violette’s Plume Lip, in autumnal shades of chestnut to berry wine, reinvents the liquid lipstick with a soft, blurred finish that’s subtle and flattering. Another make-up artist brand, Jones Road Beauty has launched twelve new Classic Lip colours. The advantage is that founder Bobbi Brown knows what women need at 50-plus – light and moisturising formulas that won’t dry out or sit in fine lines around the mouth, with no compromise on colour pigment.

Victoria Beckham’s new Foundation Drops feature skincare guru Augustinus Bader’s wonder complex, TFC8, with skincare benefits to the fore. Essential? No. But we welcome the return of creative, brilliant make-up for the winter months.
