This leafy oil is big in beauty for 2025 – here’s why …
We’re relying on spring-like green scents to uplift us this season. Eucalyptus is in vogue for that reason, and we’re seeing it as a key ingredient in everything from skin and body care to scent, with trend-setting perfume line Le Labo launching an eau de parfum that goes big on eucalyptus. With its anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties, eucalyptus also makes a valuable contribution to skincare: beauty expert and brand owner Liz Earle notes that eucalyptus oil can help to reduce redness in the skin and has cooling, cleansing properties (it features in her legendary Cleanse & Polish). It’s also key for moisture in the skin, helping to tone and hydrate, and can be helpful for scalp conditions such as a dry scalp or dandruff. I love the idea of this eucalyptus bundle in your bathroom by Tanners Foliage from a farm in Lusk, Co Dublin. Pick your own if you’re lucky enough to have a leafy garden, but for city dwellers who want the benefits of eucalyptus Tanners say that the warmth of the shower releases the scent of the oil, helping to de-stress, soothe and wake you up in the morning. Labdanum delivers an evocative warm, sweet and almost leathery aspect, found in perfumes such as Eight & Bob. Along with cedarwood and frankincense, it sings of the great outdoors.
