These Rainy Day Outfits Don’t Compromise On Style

Bad weather, great outfits …

There’s nothing like a rainy day to ruin your outfit. The unpredictable weather of the last few weeks means it’s been difficult to demonstrate any kind of style when you can’t tell if it’s summer or autumn, mild or cold. When we do venture out, the style has not exactly been exemplary, which is why we’ve lined up some chic looks that give us inspiration for those days when the weather simply will not behave.

We love how Montreal-based Grece Ghanem injects ladylike glamour into this wrapped up look. The coat, by Charlotte Simone, has been one of the cult buys of the last few seasons. (Simone releases coats in batches and they’re only on sale for a week at a time.)

Baseball cap, check. Socially-acceptable Ugg boots, of course: Camille Charièrre shows us the French take on dodging the rain.

In good news, hoodies are in favour once more. Layer yours under a formal coat – such as a double-breasted jacket or a faux-fur jacket. The contrast between dressy outwear and sporty layers will look contemporary.

You may feel maxed out when it comes to beanie hats, but really there is no other way to save your hair from being ravaged by hail and winds. We love Michelle Driscoll’s mohair beanie in cobalt – get it here.

A separate hood is another good idea for keeping the aforementioned hair in place. Bonus points if it’s patchwork and by Sea New York.

If all else fails, throw caution to the wind (pardon the pun) and go head-to-toe in leopard print, as per this vintage Claudia Schiffer reference. Inclement weather is never not an excuse to embrace the maximal! Go big or go home (and put on the fire).
