Spring collections from Irish fashion brands that are guaranteed to give you a little lift …
We’re not going to lie – all this sunshine means our head is firmly in spring dressing. And, even if the weather breaks, we’ll be infusing our outfits with a lighthearted spring feeling from here on in. A good starting point is the slew of new spring collections from Irish fashion brands. It’s safe to say these designers have gone all out this season. The pieces are joyful, the tone is romantic and the overall theme we’re seeing is a love of all things homegrown. See Aoife McNamara’s bucolic collection, below, which celebrates the Irish landscape. There’s never been a better time to support indigenous fashion – and feel a little lighter in the process.

Aoife McNamara
For spring, Adare-based designer Aoife McNamara’s collection is called Enchanted By Nature, In a Disenchanted World. The 15-piece collection prompts an appreciation of nature and a conscious attitude towards consumption. Pieces are fashioned from Irish tweed and biodegradable Irish linen. McNamara uses cupro – a fabric made of regenerated cellulose fibres from recycled cotton linter – in a bid to close the loop on fashion. The collection is on sale from this Thursday March 31. Shop it from Aoifemacnamara.com, Aoife’s Cottage, Adare, Co Limerick and the Aoife McNamara Kildare Village pop-up store which runs from March 29 to April 24.
FeeG
Founder of Fee G, Fiona Heaney, describes her new spring collection as being “full of promise” as it focuses on the clothing we wear when reconnecting with others. Think: great dresses for your next special occasion. Shop it at Fee-g.com.
Lia Cowan
Fresh from the buzz of having Bridgerton‘s Nicola Coughlan wear her designs, Lia Cowan describes her new collection as “a self portrait in cloth”. Titled Assemblé – a ballet term meaning step, put together – the collection takes inspiration from performance, movement, femininity and sculpture. Dreamy and romantic, there’s echoes of Cecilie Bahnsen and Simone Rocha to Cowan’s work. Each piece is made to order and is available from April 3. Enquiries to liacowandesign@gmail.com.
Niamh O’Neill
A must-have for the season ahead is a shirt-dress, €295, by Niamh O’Neill. Made using Irish linen, it’s the perfect bedfellow for a hazy summer day. Perhaps, most joyously of all, it also features pockets. Shop it at Niamhoneill.com.
