The Bubble, now an iconic model in the Roche Bobois collection, represents the perfect balance between design, innovation, function, and emotion. The manufacturing is done entirely by hand. Sacha Lakic designed the Bubble sofa and ottoman to conjure up the image of a basket of balloons which evoke a temptation – you cannot help but want to leap into the Bubble!
Designing the Bubble chair and sofa
The Bubble required the development of a unique 3D fabric which stretches in three directions. The Techno® fabric, created exclusively for Roche Bobois, has been designed to perfectly match complex shapes, especially rounded ones. Composed mainly of wool, its honeycomb structure gives it lightness, elasticity, and an exceptional ability to mould to the shape of the piece.
The Bubble is a real optical effect of pattern depth and increased comfort. Soft and rounded, the Bubble exudes comfort and is ideal for lounging around when you just want to put your feet up. With its unique style, the Bubble sofa, in straight or rounded version, is now an iconic model in the Roche Bobois collection.
The Perspective sofa
The Perspective sofa is a sister sofa to the Bubble, speaking the same design language. This is the sofa for the person who requires a corner sofa to fill the space.
The Bubble bed
Following the success of the Bubble Sofa and the Perspective Sofa, the Bubble Bed was presented in Spring / Summer 2021.
It’s not a cloud, but an enveloping bed with plump curves that echo its predecessors – the original Bubble sofas and armchairs. Like all the members of its family, this bed is the epitome of comfort and draws you into a restful sleep.
About the designer
Sacha Lakic’s fascination for fast luxury cars and motorbikes lends much to the aerodynamic smooth lines and graciously curved forms of his furniture designs for Roche Bobois. There’s a dynamism, a boldness, even an element of excitement to Lakic’s designs that gives them a distinctive daring edge and timeless appeal.
