Imbue a classic white linen suit with a casual feeling by adding a pair of suede moccasins – in case you missed it, these laid-back, masculine-inspired shoes are trending for SS24 – and a simple black T-shirt underneath. For an unexpected twist, finish the look with silver jewellery rather than gold.

Boardroom calling? Put a rebellious spin on the traditional two-piece by dialling up the volume on proportions. On paper, an exaggerated shoulder could be quite nostalgic but the addition of a tomboyish loafer grounds the look in the now. Don’t forget to cinch your waist with a vintage-look belt, either.

The 1970s are calling – yes, that is a strong collar peeking out over a suit lapel, à la John Travolta. The way to wear it now? A softly-rumpled linen shirt is a striking contrast to a three-piece pinstripe suit. In an instant, the most formal of tailoring is relaxed. Keep the rest of your look pared back with minimal heels or sandals.

Right now, the hottest kind of two-piece is a waistcoat and trousers, especially if it’s executed in linen and in a natural shade such as beige, ecru or white. The coolest way to accessorise? A Riviera-inspired headscarf, for the maximally-inclined.

All black for summer? But, of course! If you always gravitate towards moody tones even in warmer climes, there’s no need to be an apologist. Add interest by focusing on the fine-tuning: a split hem on a pair of cigarette trousers, jewel-detailling on a vest top or a cropped length on a boxy jacket all have the ability to transform an all-black look from sedate to scintillating.
