Four Quick Fixes For Your Hair After The Summer Season

As summer draws to a close – your hair needs some TLC

It’s the tail-end of summer, and our hair is bearing witness to months of being tied up and forgotten about, subjected to the sun and sea salt. Here are four ideas to help rescue the situation:

THE SUMMER HAIR FIX

Rescue split ends with this dedicated cream by hair line ORI Lab, made by Australian company NAK Hair. Along with five different shampoos and conditioners, there are also treatment products and stylers. We’re trying the Rescue Masque, a luxurious concoction of cocoa butter, oat extract and marula oil, which you can leave on overnight. It smells delicious and helps to nourish and restore dried-out summer hair. Packaging is 100 per cent recycled plastic, and many ingredients featured are organic. At salons and online, @orilab_uki, from €13.80

THE SALON

Eddie Doyle’s petite salon looks like a gallery from the outside. And it’s filled with paintings and drawings, both by himself and his artist father – so it’s a lot more interesting than most salons you’ll visit. If you’re someone who never quite feels at ease in a salon (and that includes me), head here for a blow dry and trim in peaceful, unpretentious surroundings. Doyle uses all natural and organic products by Natulique, including colour; he avoids the extra chemicals in conventional hair dyes, he says, “because I actually care about your hair”. If you’ve ever wondered about a more natural approach to hair colouring, this is a good place to start. 47 Main Street, Blackrock, Co Dublin;www.eddiedoyle.net

THE IRISH OIL

Ground Wellbeing have an oil for every concern and eventuality, and their Recovery Hair Oil (€27.50) is an all-Irish handmade blend of oils including rosemary (to help stimulate hair growth), clary sage, camellia seed and argan. Use on scalp and dry ends, and overnight as a moisturising mask. The team recommend a Restorative Ritual treatment at a Ground Spa (such as The K Club, The Shelbourne and Powerscourt Springs), to experience a head massage with this oil, and it’s hard to think of anything nicer.www.groundwellbeing.com

THE HAIR PERFUME

Matiere Premiere’s new Hair Perfumes are as chic as their eau de parfums, which are known for their excellent ingredients and long-lasting trails. It’s hard to pick just one scent, but Radical Rose is a beauty, spicy and memorable; treat yourself to a 6ml sample of the perfume while you’re there (€32) – you won’t regret it. €60, from www.matiere-premiere.com

Hot To Go: We Have Found The Hottest Scent For Summer

This perfume is incandescent – simply one of the best things we’ve smelled all year ...Every now and then, a new scent stops us in our tracks. It happens more rarely than you’d think. Lots of perfumes smell anodyne, unmemorable; lots more are seriously overpriced. At...
