Fashion influencer Emily O’Donoghue shares the new season pieces she’s lusting after and the items she’ll be remixing from her closet to wear again this year …
A new season, particularly autumn winter, feels like a turning of the page. The kids go back to school, the leaves change colour, the weather becomes cosy: it’s a moment that cries out for a sartorial change in gear. And while it can be tempting to overhaul your wardrobe with a glut of new pieces, we’re more conscious of consumption than ever. Is it unrealistic to think we won’t buy anything new? Probably. In the spirit of balance, we’ve created a glossy new series 2+2; where style influencers share the pieces they’re investing in for autumn winter and the forever stalwarts they’ll be carrying over from previous seasons. Up this week, Emily O’Donoghue (Instagram @fashionablyfortyish) shares her winter wish-list, plus the wardrobe pieces she’ll be remixing from previous seasons.

what i’m keeping
“The piece from last year that I would style again – and every season, in fact – is a black calfskin leather belt by Celine.”

Medium Triomphe belt in calfskin, €450; www.celine.com.

“This pink lace-trimmed dress from last year (shop similar below) is a real favourite because it has the wow factor. Plus, it is functional for Irish weather … warm but whimsical! It’s from a boutique called Charlotte & Tess.”

Minnie pink lace midi-dress, €595; www.oliviarubin.com.
what i’m buying

“I was influenced by Laura Wills (@thefashionbugblog) to buy this vegan leather puffer jacket from Nanushka. I bought mine in Brown Thomas (it’s sadly now sold out). It’s the winter coat I reach for first when I run out the door which is always a tell-tale sign that it’s a favourite! The material is super durable and it keeps you exceptionally warm.”

Padded vegan leather jacket, Nanushka, €695; www.net-a-porter.com.

“One of my favourite looks from last season was at H&M when they did a ski range. It felt like a throwback to the 1980s when everyone wore these jacquard knits, so I was thrilled when they brought out another version this season. I’d style it with jeans or a tulle skirt.”

Jacquard knit jumper, €34.99, at H&M.
