The Investment Club was created in 2021 and our Goodbody experts have been with us every step of the way, providing practical tips on investing, and insights on pensions and inheritance tax, among other key topics. From tracing their career paths and how to attract more women to the financial services industry to their sage advice and hobbies, we invite you to explore our Women in Wealth series.
My journey to a career in financial services: I started off my career working in funds services prior to joining Goodbody as a Portfolio Construction Analyst in 2019. Now, I work as an Investment Manager with the Regional Team in Cork.
What females bring to the industry: The more obvious answer is that females bring diversity, in terms of how we think and go about doing things, to a very much male-dominated industry. However, it’s not so much “a man’s world” anymore as we are seeing an increasing number of female clients over the years, and so having strong females in the industry connects women together.
Career highlight to date: Getting my first set of clients this year!
Three investing tips for beginners:
1. Begin with investing only what you can afford to lose.
2. Pick a few stocks that you like and are familiar with.
3. Try diversifying across different sectors (healthcare, consumer staples, tech, etc.)
