The hairbrush in every fashion and beauty insider’s handbag is made by French brand La Bonne Brosse …
The humble hairbrush has been overlooked for a long time, with few stylish options available. Pauline Laurent and Flore Des Robert founded La Bonne Brosse in 2022 to bring a dash of style and quality into the market, focussing on the idea of hairbrushing as a ritual, as well as something that’s key for healthy hair.
Brushing “provides the hair fibres with protection, lightness and shine while offering a revitalising scalp massage that densifies the hair over time,” they explain. The luxurious brushes are made by a French company that uses traditional artisan techniques, with boar hair bristles.
They’ve done some stylish collabs, including a bright blue brush for skincare brand Augustinus Bader. They offer a wide range of brushes in every colour and size – the founders carried out a diagnosis of over 144 hair and scalp types to come up with the variety of brush heads. There are also eye-catching accessories, from soft turbans and velvet hairbands to coloured clips. The brand recently launched a range of haircare too, Cair, in stylish glass refillable bottles.
With the current focus on scalp health, it makes sense to invest in your haircare tools, especially when it’s as pretty as this. They’re available online at www.labonnebrosse.com, from €98 for the small brushes.
And here’s a current standout from the brand. As we brace ourselves for the onslaught of Valentine’s Day merch – endless pink things, sugary scents and cutesy cards – we’re happy to share one idea that’s a cut above the rest. Next month sees the launch of this limited-edition cream hairbrush. With its Alice in Wonderland charm, this is a lasting gift of love that’s practical and enduring, too.
La Bonne Brosse large hairbrush, available from February 1, £146stg.
