What’s New In Irish Jewellery This Month

From a globetrotting jeweller to classics with a twist and a cool new collab, here’s the latest news from the Irish jewellery scene …

Cocktail hour jewellery has staged a comeback, so it’s time to pile on the finery. Is a bejewelled torc too much? Never, according to Cate Blanchett, the new house ambassador for Louis Vuitton jewellery. Jewellery fans will also note Florence Pugh in the upcoming Olivia Wilde-directed psychological thriller Don’t Worry Darling (coming on September 23), perfectly coordinating XL drop earrings with an existential crisis. But what’s new in Irish jewellery? Here are three new updates worth talking about …

Modern Masterpiece

Fresh from a pop-up at the jewellery department at Bergdorf Goodman in Manhattan, Castlebar goldsmith Nigel O’Reilly is cultivating a devout following on both sides of the Atlantic. O’Reilly’s customers – from CEOs to fashion editors – are jewel connoisseurs who come to him, he says, for something different. His latest bespoke piece, the Ad Lucem ring – featuring a blue topaz artfully poised in a bed of pavé-cut rubies, sapphires and white diamonds – is a striking case in point. Classics, With a Twist

Move over maximalism: we’d like a wardrobe filled with Natasha Sherling’s delicate jewels – they’re our kind of everyday luxury. The Dublin jeweller launches an expanded “Ready To Wear” offering for autumn, meaning her trademark elegant chain necklaces and do-it-all diamond studs, best worn with a crisp, cotton shirt, are available for immediate shipping. Sherling also designs and makes very special jewels (above) to order. www.natashasherling.ie

A Cool Collab

Mark your calendars. Stylist Ingrid Hoey and Margaret O’Rourke of MoMuse have collaborated to launch The Synergy collection, a nine-piece fine jewellery collection in 9-carat and 18-carat gold and natural diamonds. Hero pieces include dainty necklaces designed for layering, delicate diamond stackable rings, and a modern infinity bracelet. The Synergy collection will be available in-store at MoMuse in the Powerscourt Townhouse and online at www.momuse.ie from Tuesday September 27.
