Kickstart your skin’s building blocks with a gold standard treatment that has proven lasting effects …
As we head into autumn, we have that new term feeling, and want to step forward into the season with our best face forward. After a challenging year, perhaps you’re considering something more than a face cream or new serum. A panel of experts have judged Ultherapy to be the gold standard for lifting and tightening your skin. When we heard Ambassador Kirsty Gallacher, broadcaster and fitness guru, describe Ultherapy as “An amazing non-invasive skin treatment which I genuinely love and use,” we were intrigued. If it can deliver a sculpted jawline like Gallacher’s, we want to know more!
So what is Ultherapy?
Ultherapy is a non-invasive treatment that helps to lift, sculpt and tighten skin. A ground-breaking FDA-approved non-surgical treatment, it uses advanced ultrasound energy to stimulate the production of your natural collagen. The production of collagen, which is the skin’s “scaffolding”, begins to decline from our mid-20s onwards, and as we age we lose around 1 per cent per year. It decreases naturally, and lifestyle factors also play a part, such as smoking, diet and UV rays. Post-menopause, collagen and elastin levels decrease, leading to more fragile, dry and lined skin; studies show that our skin loses about 30 per cent of its collagen during the first five years of menopause.
How does it compare?
It targets collagen production in the deepest skin layers – it goes deeper than other non-invasive treatments such as laser and radiofrequency, and evidence is supported by more than 50 clinical studies. More than 1.5million treatments have been performed worldwide.
What can it do for me?
Perhaps you’ve noticed that your skin is feeling a little less firm or tight. Or you might be conscious of a lowered brow, loose skin on the neck, sagging around the chin and jaw area, or lines and wrinkles on the chest. Ultherapy can help to create a natural lift, and a refreshed appearance and is suitable for all skin tones and types. It has proven results to softly define the jawline, reduce the appearance of wrinkles, and lift a heavy brow, all with the added bonus of smoother, fresher skin.
“Patients now recognise the benefits of Ultherapy as a first line of treatment for skin maintenance and optimum skin health. The results-driven non-surgical Ultherapy treatment enables the skin to naturally lift and tighten, so patients can achieve a lifted midface, a more defined jawline and neck, or natural-looking brow lift.”
Dr Tracy Mountford, The Cosmetic Skin Clinic, who has more than 25 years’ experience in non-surgical aesthetics.
Focus on the eyes
Since we’re all wearing masks, the eye area has become a particular focus, and Ultherapy can help here too. “Ultherapy is a very popular procedure for those looking for a natural lift to the brow area. Ultherapy gives a clinically significant, very natural lift. A single 20-minute procedure with little or no downtime, it has become my treatment of choice for those who want naturally attractive eyes.” Dr Orla Grimes, Clinical Specialist, Beacon Face & Dermatology.
Taking the time
Treatments can take from 30 minutes – so some can take place in your lunch hour. A full face and neck treatment with Ultherapy takes up to 90 minutes. A full face treatment takes around 60 minutes; a lower face and neck treatment should take around 45 minutes. Treating the décolletage/chest area takes around 30 minutes.
After the treatment
It works from the inside out, and so there is no surgery involved and minimal downtime – you should be able to get back to work, exercise or holiday without having to follow any special post-treatment restrictions. Skin might appear flushed at first, but any redness should disappear within a few hours. Some patients experience slight swelling, tingling or tenderness to the touch, but these are temporary.
The results: what can Ultherapy do for me?
You can expect to see significant lifting and tightening of the facial and neck areas within three months after just one single micro-focused ultrasound treatment. This single Ultherapy treatment may provide a lasting effect for over a year and your practitioner will advise on the likely outcomes for you. Following Ultherapy treatment, 73 per cent of patients saw an improvement in their jawline after just three months and continued to see results for up to two years.
