One upside to a downsized festive season is the opportunity to wear exactly what you fancy … Have fun, says AISLINN COFFEY …
Chic yet relaxed, attention-grabbing yet informal, the pros of pyjamas as daywear extend well beyond the bedroom. Not only is this simulated jacket-and-trousers duo chic for wearing at home with some fancy slipper-style shoes, but they also double as a cool fancy thing to wear outside the house with a pair of kitten heels. How to pull it off? If you had a chance to look inside the wardrobes of fashion editors, there are a few standard approaches: wear as is with seamless underwear and jewel-toned velvet or satin mules. Add jewellery: Christmas Day is the perfect time to pull out your best bits. Or, open a few buttons and pair with a classic crew-neck T-shirt and tonal sneakers for a chic but casual look. For something extra special (and local) try new sleepwear brand with a conscience Loom Irish Linen, who make luxury, sustainable pyjamas from Irish linen: it is an extremely strong fabric that can last for decades, so with the right care (washing at 30 degrees or below and not using a tumble dryer), a pair could last you forever.
