We’re Letting You In On Our Favourite January Lifesaver

It’s about this time of year we remember why we dread January. Dark days and bad weather can be a trial, and it can be hard to gear up for a new year, inspite of all the articles briming with “new you” positivity. You have to look after yourself this month, whether that means chocolate and movies or running the pier. My tip is a visit to Andras Paroczai, one of very few experts I regularly recommend to people. He is a massage therapist previously much in demand at Nuala Woulfe in Glasthule, and now in his own premises, Andreas Body Restoration. But his treatments are not just a bit relaxing. His Body Restoration Treatments (€85, one hour) are well named – he is such an expert that you’ll feel rebalanced and restored. They’re particularly ideal if you’re tired, stressed, exercise a lot and have tired muscles, or you’re a bit flat. Or just because it’s January, in fact. He has carefully designed his rooms, in an unprepossessing office block at the back of Dun Laoghaire, to be calm and relaxing, with an organic ethos – this is not about a fancy spa setting, but about a superlative treatment that feels healing and restorative.

Starting with a foot massage, and body brushing, Andras will instinctively focus treatments to areas of most tension and stress, for example neck, shoulders and jaw. Other treatments include hot stone massage and reiki through to facials; people rave that his facial massage takes years off them. Andras also offers a Therapeutic Touch treatment for adult patients undergoing cancer treatment. Try the skincare too: Andras works with L’Amia natural skincare from Hungary, which is also worth discovering; I especially love the cherry facial oil has a delicious almondy scent and rich texture. An hour’s facial using these and featuring a Hungarian facial lifting technique is €80.

Believe me, this under-the-radar address is one of the best additions you can make to your little black book of people who can help soothe your mind, skin and body. Andras is one of the most hard-working and passionate experts I’ve come across, not just in Ireland but anywhere and, as a friend I recommended him to pointed out, if you could afford to you’d go to him every other week.

Prices are very reasonable for this quality of treatment, starting from €55. Book online at www.andreas.ie.
