Waxing Lyrical: Looking For a Trusty One-Stop Pre-Holiday Beauty Stop?

Here’s a local salon we recommend …

It takes a while to trust a new place with waxing. In the past I’ve submitted my skin to the warm wax of Waxperts (whose Dun Laoghaire salon is now closed), Wax in the City (quick, efficient, no booking required) and Sugar Bare on Leopardstown Road (for sugaring rather than waxing). This week I braved a new spot – and will definitely be returning. C Beauty Studio in Blackrock, Co Dublin, is a brilliant local salon owned by Claire Donohue. It opened just before lockdown, so it’s great to see they’re back in business with a vengeance, with bookings out the door.

This is one-stop shop for before your holidays. Claire is an expert waxer, no two ways about it, and they use Waxperts wax, which is as gentle as possible. Tans start from €15, with Bellamianta (great for a natural-looking colour) at €30. They also offer a range of face and body treatments, which I haven’t tried out, plus manis and pedis (from €30) including a deluxe Margaret Dabbs pedicure (€80). There’s a range of lash, brow and make-up services too.

Another good reason to stop in here: C Beauty stock Comfort Zone and Skin Regimen skincare, both of which are made in Parma, Italy (by the people behind the equally good Davines haircare range, which you can find at Romina Daniel salon in Sandyford, another fine local) and are excellent, hard to find ranges. Skin Regimen in particular is a really excellent, more premium skincare line that is under the radar, but should be far better known, with good ingredients and a genuine sustainable ethos. Try it out with a Skin Regimen facial (€95).
