THE PRODUCT

Since it first launched in 2018, L’Occitane’s Immortelle Overnight Reset Serum has been an overnight success. We sent our 20 testers the updated formula to trial for four weeks, made with 92 per cent natural-origin ingredients – it is powered with ten times more anti-ageing immortelle essential oil, plus a new patented immortelle sap-like extract to soothe skin and help banish tightness or redness.

Suitable for stressed-out skin of all ages, the serum is designed to reset skin overnight, so you wake up with a glowing complexion – rested, fresher, more luminous. Think of a comfort blanket for your skin at night. It’s formulated to soften fine lines, and generally relieve signs of stress and tiredness.

WHAT’S IN IT?

Key ingredients include immortelle essential oil, L’Occitane’s powerful anti-oxidant. Immortelle plant extracts have the power to boost collagen production and double the rate of micro-circulation in the skin, aiding in cell renewal. Acmella Oleacera Extract relaxes muscle tension under the skin, thus easing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, so skin looks rested. Marjoram is another powerful active ingredient that has the ability to restart gene expression functions that have become less effective due to natural ageing and external aggressors such as UV, pollution and stress.

OUR PANEL REPORT …

Half of our testers said they regularly use a serum in their nighttime routine, with another 30 per cent saying they do sometimes. All but one tester enjoyed using the serum, with nearly all finding it “light and easily absorbed”:

OUT OF THE ORDINARY

How did it compare to their usual night skin routine? “100 per cent better”, remarked Brenda. “It was a definite addition to my usual evening skincare,” said Clodagh. “Far superior, I’m a convert and will definitely be buying this myself,” said Clare. “It was a pleasure to use and I looked forward to using the product.” Angela. Roisin found it so hydrating she skipped her moisturiser, while for Aoife it was a routine-changer: “I never used serums before but after using this I’ll always have it.”

MAKING CHANGES

The majority – 85 per cent – noticed changes in their skin during the trial. The benefits? Several found the serum left their skin feeling softer; other bonuses included fresher, smoother, more hydrated and brighter skin, more even skin tone, fewer fine lines and reduced Rosacea. One reported skin looking more refreshed in the morning and “plumped up”. A few felt they needed longer using the serum to see significant changes.

All but one tester scored the packaging eight out of ten or higher, with 40 per cent giving ten; they liked the look and weight. And overall, over 80 per cent would buy or use the serum again, while 85 per cent would recommend it to others. The final word to Brenda, from Limerick: “I loved everything about it … The packaging, colour, texture and perfume.”
