Expert advice from the consultant dermatologist at the Blackrock Clinic in Dublin …
The Wedding Salon at The Merrion is an annual highlight in THE GLOSS events calendar. At this year’s sold-out event, host and wedding planner extraordinaire Tara Fay provided guidance for the special day, make-up artist Christine Lucignano and hair stylist David Cashman showcased the best bridal looks, with wedding dress and mother-of-the-bride looks and tips from Sharon Hoey’s stunning AndTate new spring/summer 2025 collection.
Leading dermatology consultant Dr Rosemary Coleman presented expert advice on skincare. At the forefront of dermatology for over three decades, Dr Coleman specialises in restoring skin health with a long-term approach, incorporating an informed regimen and smart skincare solutions.

Dr Coleman takes a refreshing approach to a skincare routine:
1. Beware, anyone can call themselves a dermatologist. Only consult a medically qualified consultant dermatologist.
2. Pigmentation, excess blood vessels, wrinkles, skin conditions such as acne, and tone and radiance can be helped by laser and other treatments, but only with the right guidance from a consultant dermatologist. Only embark on treatments if you have plenty of time before your big day.
3. Don’t risk a skin reaction by undertaking any new regimes, treatments or tweakments in the weeks before any event. If you want to try Botox for the first time, only do at least 6 weeks in advance.
4. Wear SPF and more SPF: the only SPF that really works contains zinc oxide. Wear it every day, on your neck and down to your décolletage if it’s exposed.
5. The most impressive product on Dr Coleman’s radar this year is The Skin Diary’s Night Repair Therapy, created by Professor Chris Griffiths OBE and Dr Tamara Griffiths. This science-based product was created after many years of research, which she particularly recommends for mature skin.
