Too Many Cooks: Keep Your Dream Kitchen To Yourself At Christmas

IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE PANELLING CENTRE

Did you know a third of people don’t like having anyone else in the kitchen when preparing Christmas dinner?

According to new research from a study taken by The Panelling Centre*, Ireland’s leading destination for kitchens and appliances, 44 per cent of people will spend an incredible four to eight hours in the kitchen between Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, while 39 per cent will spend a more modest two to four hours creating the festive feast.

A third of people don’t like having someone else in the kitchen when preparing Christmas dinner and, although cooking alone is a preference for many, 38 per cent say they secretly enjoy cooking in someone else’s kitchen because there is either more space, a better selection of appliances or a better oven, listed as the top three reasons.

According to this research, 41 per cent of people feel the layout of their kitchen impacts what they choose to cook. The lack of space on counters, in ovens or storage in the fridge or freezer make the biggest impact on these choices. It should come as no surprise then that six in ten people from this study have experienced a kitchen disaster while cooking Christmas dinner. Most have either forgotten a key ingredient, or burned the turkey or the ham!

Of all the appliances Christmas cooks dream of having to achieve the perfect Christmas dinner, a double oven (40 per cent) is number one on the wish list.
