This One Piece Is Everywhere At Paris Fashion Week

It’s official: the petit jacket is trending …

The street style at Paris Fashion Week is always an inspiration, especially when it comes to seeing the Parisienne in her native habit looking effortlessly coolAs usual, there was plenty of fanfare around the shows, including the usual array of out-there looks. However, there was one trend that was a little less outré and a little bit ‘wear me now’ that we spotted amongst the fashion folk. Cue: the micro jacket.

The appearance of boxy, at times high-cut jackets was refreshing considering the long-line blazer has reigned supreme these last few seasons. Just like miniskirts, jacket hems have gotten higher. In some cases, this means a boxy suit style with a co-ordinating skirt; for others, standard blazers have been shortened by a few inches. It’s largely been influenced by the brands showing at Paris Fashion Week; the likes of YSL, Acne Studios and Hermés are experimenting with jacket hems, giving them a refresh for the season ahead. See how the fashion set are wearing the trend, below, and watch this space for more petit variations on our favourite wardrobe pieces.

The new style of cropped jackets are cut to be boxy – and statement making. See how Spanish influencer Blanca Miró Scrimieri dives head on into spring summer 2022 trends, wearing hers as part of a voguish skirt suit.

The look is not just for daytime, either, as demonstrated by Pernille Teisbaek who wore a cut-off herringbone jacket and bejewelled bodice as eveningwear.

Creative director – and stylish Parisienne – Leia Sfez gave the look an equine twist thanks to riding boots and a flash of hardwear.

Integral to the model-off-duty look, the go-anywhere grey blazer gets an upgrade with a shorter length – perfect when paired with jeans and a white tee.

Meanwhile, Swedish influencer Fanny Ekstrand shows off her romantic side in an elaborate tutu, offset by a cropped Acne Studios jacket. The brand leaned into leather for its autumn winter 22 runway show last week.
