IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE WESTBURY
Enjoy a luxurious pre-Christmas stay at The Westbury, the perfect base for completing your Christmas shopping
From the moment you are welcomed through its familiar doors, with the lights of Grafton Street twinkling behind and a glimpse of the iconic tree at the top of the stairs, you are sure to be enchanted by the magical spirit of Christmas at The Westbury. It is the reason why so many people from near and far return again and again to celebrate the season with friends and family.
This year the The Westbury marks its 40th Christmas season, and the team has ensured there is something for every type of celebration. Popping in for a bite to eat with friends after Christmas shopping in the Westbury Mall, Balfes bar and brasserie is buzzy and cosmopolitan and brings a New York vibe, from its martinis to its range of festive menus. There’s a great value three-course lunch for €66 per person or three-course dinner from €78. Guests can choose to dine outdoors on the heated terrace and watch the world go by or inside, where perfect lighting, banquette seats and striking artwork all combine to create a stylish ambiance.
It’s often a family tradition to swap presents over a Festive Afternoon Tea in the Gallery at The Westbury. This much loved tradition begins with mulled wine on arrival and finishes with mini mince pies. In between guests enjoy dainty finger sandwiches, desserts and scones served with a selection of fragrant teas from around the world. Priced at €75 per person, or with a glass of Charles Heidsieck Champagne, €98 per person. Do book ahead; sittings are available from 12.30pm to 5.30pm.
For evening celebrations, The Sidecar Bar remains our favourite Art Deco-inspired haunt, where glamorous guests are guaranteed as are expertly mixed cocktails which are often the prelude to dinner in Wilde. The restaurant hits the sweet spot – creating a sense of occasion if needed with its pretty backdrop, excellent lighting and consistent menu of foodie favourites – but it’s also casually chic and always has the most attentive staff. (A three-course dinner is from €89 per person).
Why not treat yourself to an overnight stay? This year saw the launch of a newly refurbished suite level on the fourth floor of the hotel – the culmination of a three-year project that created 30 suites including two elegant Terrace Suites and the premiere PV Doyle Suite.
There are a number of options for overnight stays, including a Family Suite Stay in one of the new signature suites for two adults and two children or the Festive Family Moments package. The latter includes accommodation for two people sharing in a luxurious bedroom or suite (with your own Christmas tree!), bespoke festive themed in-room amenities on arrival, breakfast the following morning in Wilde plus an exclusive 20-minute family portrait session for up to five people with renowned photographer Emily Quinn beside The Westbury’s Christmas tree. This costs from €630 for two people sharing, available for stays on December 27, 28 and 29. Additional or adjoining bedrooms are available upon request at an additional cost.
If staying, do make the most of The Westbury’s prime position by visiting some of the city’s cultural highlights – The Museum of Literature is a short stroll across St Stephen’s Green and Dublin’s Creative Quarter is right on its doorstep.
