A Contemporary Penthouse In Dublin Is A Lesson In Refined Style

This penthouse in Dublin 4, a former show unit, was redesigned in a consistent palette with practical storage …

“Our focus is to bring warmth, comfort and a stylish finish to the spaces we create,” explains Moya Farrell of Avenue Interior Design.

A new open-plan kitchen, living and dining area was created, with Crittall doors linking the spaces. Radiators were updated and engineered oak hardwoood floors laid in both wide plank and herringbone patterns by Matt Britton Flooring & Carpets. Skirting boards were increased in size (to 220mm) and spotlights replaced with bespoke pendant lights. Most of the furniture was custom made by Avenue Interior Design. “We softened all of the spaces with paint shades from Colourtrend, with a slightly darker warm white on the woodwork and added neutral curtains and textiles to complete the space. A beam in the same timber as the joinery work was an interesting addition to the living space.”

In the kitchen Poul Cadovius’ Royal Modular Shelving System from Nordic Elements increased the storage capacity of the kitchen.

The paint shades used in the living room are Colourtrend’s Elk Skin on walls, with Always Neutral on skirting boards and woodwork. The custom sectional sofa and ottoman, voile curtains and solid oak TV unit with a whitewash finish are by Avenue Interiors. Accessories include a Riviera Maison rug, Fly armchair by &tradition from Minima and a Herman Miller Nelson pendant light.

The dining room features a bespoke pendant light from Mullan Lighting. The Teak Grooves table and sideboard are by Ethnicraft, the walnut Hans Wegner-stlye Wishbone chairs from CA Design. The rug is by Limited Edition.
