The CIFD fashion show round up …

L-R: Helen Hayes; Niamh O’Neill; Helen Hayes.
The autumn 2022 Council of Irish Fashion Designers (CIFD) show this week gave us a lot to look forward to for the new season. From Niamh O’Neill’s delectable, rich two-tone merlot taffeta skirt paired with a bubblegum pink cashmere sweater (O’Neill is known for refined silhouettes and expert craftsmanship) to Helen Hayes’s clever midnight blue origami-style ribbon skirts that move beautifully with an elegance that feels wear now, wear forever.

L-R: KDK; Theo + George; The Suss Edit.
There were endless options of wardrobe classics, from great quality everyday staples by The Suss Edit (organic cotton) and Theo + George (cashmere) to Loom Irish Linen (piped linen), KDK (silk) and JimJams’ (organic cotton) luxe pyjamas.

L-R: Gabrielle Malone; Urban Aran; Laura Chambers.
The wearability and of-the-moment feel of Laura Chambers’ effortlessly cool black knit sweater with batwing sleeves, Gabrielle Malone’s forest green textured merino wool tank and Urban Aran’s blush pink superfine merino oversized sweater make them candidates for many autumn wish lists. In fact, everything from FéRí’s pretty orange Eva print collared midi dress, Heidi Higgins’ Tily animal print frock and Ciara Allen’s belted Irish tweed wool coat with red vertical stripes will be in our shopping carts.

L-R: Ciara Allen; FéRí; Heidi Higgins.
Come winter, we will all need that perfect party dress (or gown) to throw on after dark. Something beautiful, something chic, something that can be styled up in different ways depending on the accessories.

L-R: Charlotte Lucas; Caoimhe Murphy; Caterina Coyne.
Taking notes from the show, we’re excited about Caoimhe Murphy’s silk organza babydoll LBD, Charlotte Lucas’ show-stopping black three quarter length gown with white shoulder bows and Caterina Coyne’s polka dot tulle halterneck top (paired with cigarette pants if you don’t like wearing dresses).
Throw on Helena Malone’s lustrous Tahitian pearls and Nicki Hoyne’s gold glitter Out Out sandals and you are good to go!

She is the queen of no makeup makeup and even manages to make a smokey eye look subtle. When everyone else was going for heavy contour and laminated eyebrows, she continued to promote enhancing your natural features with simple tricks and smart product placement. If you have seen any of her videos, you will notice how little product she actually uses. Even Victoria Beckham commented how surprised she was when she went to remove her makeup after a shoot with Lisa on how little product was applied.
