There’s something beguiling about a party bag. They’re designed to be frivolous, some are so small they barely cater to the card-phone-lipstick minimum space allowance, while others are indecently glitzy. So glitzy that, at any other time of the year they’d induce an eye-watering shiver. And yet: we love them. We revel in their sparkles, in their no-holds-barred appreciation of a good party. The good news is this: we’ve been taking note and the same styles come back around each year. The not-so-nice news is that these bags can be wasteful, the high street is littered with sequinned styles at low, low prices that are heavy on disposable fashion. So, follow this advice: buy once and (no matter where you purchase from) buy well – that is, buy a style you love and you know will go with endless little black dress combinations.
