The Timeless Jewellery And Accessories THE GLOSS Editors Love

From designer belts and bangles to evening bags …

Four Glossy jewellery lovers share their favourite lots from the Adam’s Jewellery Box auction, giving one-of-a-kind pieces a second life.

Sarah Halliwell, Beauty Editor

LOT 130: GUCCI SILVER BELT – A polished flattened curb-link belt in silver, signed Gucci, shortest length when closed 76cm and longest length when closes 80.5cm, estimate €600-€800.

“Choosing one item from this auction is a serious challenge. I was distracted by the dazzling diamond hoop earrings (lot 109) with sparkle to lift any outfit, a Tiffany diamond ring (lot 78), vintage Hermes scarves (a lovely gift) and a brilliant-cut diamond “S” chain necklace (lot 152) – it literally has my name on it. But then I spotted the Gucci silver belt. As a silver-lover, this would be the perfect way to dress up my daily jeans: practical, beautiful, unique.”

Síomha Connolly, Deputy Editor

LOT 22: TWO GOLD BANGLES – 18ct gold hinged polished bangles, inner circumference 16.5cm and 17.5cm, estimate €1,200-€1,800.

“While it’s easy to get distracted by shiny statement pieces, for me an auction is the perfect opportunity to build up basics. These gold bangles caught my eye. For this season’s jewellery, the bolder the better and a pair of classic chunky bangles would be the perfect addition – worn cuffed over knitwear and layered with more delicate gold chains or a tennis bracelet like lot 106.”

Aislinn Coffey, Style Editor

LOT 7: LAPIS LAZULI, EMERALD AND DIAMOND BANGLE BRACELET – An 18ct gold square-shape hinged bangle with four polished lapis lazuli motifs with circular-shaped emeralds and brilliant-cut diamonds, estimate €1,200-€1,800.

“I collect vintage rings and buy new to commemorate special days or anniversaries. I’m totally obsessed with pinkie rings at the moment. I’d really love a going out, maximalist bracelet and this one is so unique. I adore the combination of blue and green.”

Penny McCormick, Contributing Editor

LOT 187: ART NOUVEAU SILVER EVENING BAG – A silver (maker’s mark) woven mesh-link purse, accented with bead tassels with a handle decorated with stylised flower, estimate €150-€200.

“I collect antique evening bags, so this immediately caught my eye. This silver Art Nouveau bag with pretty floral motif and bead tassels would look great with a simple black dress or sweater and jeans. It’s definitely a talking point and a sustainable purchase at that. I can already visualise it twinkling by candlelight during the festive season. When not in use, I would add it to the collection of vintage bags hanging in my bedroom where they work well as decorative items.”
