We’re being warned that AI is coming for our jobs. But what if we just gave robots and machines the jobs that we really, really don’t want to do. Like housework! Who wants to spend Sunday morning vacuuming the house or mopping the kitchen floor. A Roomba remote control vacuum busies itself gathering dirt and dust from hard-to-reach places, while using the new light and ergonomic Dyson Wash G1 mop and vacuum, a dual-purpose gem with easy click-on, click-off attachments, is as close to a joy as you’ll come where housework is concerned. Always forgetting to pick up your drycleaning? The LG Styler3 steam closet (no plumbing required!) refreshes and cleanses clothes. It might be a big investment but once you see how much you save on dry cleaning bills, it will pay for itself in no time.
Some tech tools seem futuristic, but others are resolutely nostalgic, old school. Our Place’s new 6-in-1 oven looks like something from a 1950s ad, but look at the impressive multi-functionality – airfryer, toaster, microwave and more – not to mention the counter space it saves. We’re even rethinking our morning coffee. Faffy flat whites at home and coffee shop runs are all very well but we actually love the thought of a nostalgic drip-method coffee machine. Switch on, potter and pour. Let the machines do the hard work, so you don’t have to.
