The Private Members Club That Keeps On Giving

IN PARTNERSHIP WITH CIRCLE CLUB

Find out more about the perfect gift for theatre lovers, guaranteed to elevate any visit to the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre …

A noted trend over the last few years is the boom in private membership clubs, where members and their guests can enjoy unique experiences in gorgeous settings allowing them to socialise, network and entertain friends, family and business associates.

However, where once private clubs had the whiff of old world money and elitism, they are now more accessible, yet still exclusive. A GLOSS favourite is the Circle Club at Bord Gáis Energy Theatre which offers a luxurious way to experience leading theatrical productions.

On the programme over the next few months is an interesting and appealing mix of musicals, ballets, and iconic plays from To Kill A Mockingbird to Miss Saigon (sold out to the general audience, but still available for members). Must sees over the festive season and into next year are Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge! The Musical (running until January 11) and the Irish premiere of the heartwarming hit comedy Mrs Doubtfire in December 2026, based on the much loved film and promising festive joy for families and theatre fans alike.

As regulars of Bord Gáis Energy Theatre will know, booking a show in the Daniel Libeskind-designed space is a treat in itself. From the buzz of the foyer and a pre-show drink, to debriefing during the interval, there’s always a sense of occasion.

Brightening up those dark mid-winter evenings with some Hollywood glamour is Top Hat (from January 27 to 31) while drama lovers can look forward to the gripping psychological thriller The Talented Mr Ripley (from March 10) and The Shawshank Redemption (from April 21). For dance lovers, Chile’s prestigious Ballet de Santiago will be presenting Swan Lake, and the globally adored Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, will perform during the Dublin Dance Festival.

One way to elevate a visit to the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre further is to invest in an annual Patron Circle membership to the Circle Club. This exclusive membership guarantees best-in-house seats, as well as access to the chic private lounge which is perfect for pre- or post-show drinks overlooking Grand Canal Square.

As the only private members club within a theatre in Ireland, the Circle Club is more than just a seat in the house. This elegant space combines the emotion and excitement of the theatre with an experience of refinement and ease, all within a tranquil setting ideal for both corporate and personal entertaining. The privileges of Circle Club membership will bring you and your guests on a first-class journey to the theatre, from your reserved table in the private lounge to the seamless pre-show dining experience, the dedicated team who assist in curating your perfect night and, of course, the best-in-house theatre seats.

The décor of the Circle Club Lounge was inspired by the elegance of the Roaring Twenties. Think red lacquered tabletops, graphic chevron carpets, jewel-toned club chairs, velvet banquettes and statement artwork, which further create a sense of exclusivity. Any midweek visit becomes an occasion, and any work-related stress dissolves as soon as guests are seated at their tables.

Whether you’re a regular theatre goer or someone who enjoys sharing experiences with friends and family, Circle Club membership offers something for everyone (and is fully transferable to friends!). One of the most impressive benefits is an extensive show night menu curated by the Circle Club’s executive chef. Dinner is carefully choreographed with performances; two courses are served before the show begins, while dessert is waiting (with additional drinks) during the interval. It all works brilliantly. The menu, covering light bites to more substantial entrées, is served by attentive staff.

Making their Irish debuts are the hilarious smash-hit musical Mean Girls (from August 25) from writer Tina Fey and the new musical The Ballad of Johnny and June, (from March 31) celebrating the legendary love story of Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash. Summer brings the feel-good, girl-power favourite Legally Blonde (from July 7) starring Amber Davies as Elle Woods, in addition to the stage adaptation of the cult comedy classic Fawlty Towers written by John Cleese (from July 28).

With so many top class shows on the horizon, gifting membership to the Circle Club makes sense. While many gifts claim to “keep on giving”, membership to the Circle Club really does just that, making the recipients feel like VIPs on every single visit.
