Based on a novel of the same name by Elin Hilderbrand (veritable queen of Nantucket-based fiction) The Perfect Couple, the new six-part limited series, which stars Nicole Kidman alongside Liev Schreiber and Dakota Fanning, is the perfect watch for anyone mourning the Little White Lies or The White Lotus–shaped holes in their viewing schedules. What is The Perfect Couple about?
It’s a set-up too good to resist. The premise of the new Netflix thriller is as follows: a wealthy family, led by its matriarch, famous novelist Greer Garrison-Winbury (played by Kidman), gathers on the island of Nantucket for the wedding of Garrison-Winbury’s son. The setting is glamorous, but – as suspected – not everything is as it seems. On the eve of the big day, a body is found on the beach and, suddenly, everyone in the wedding party goes from guest to suspect. Equally, real life takes a turn as dramatic as one of Garrison-Winbury’s fiction plots.
Who is starring in the new Netflix drama?
Alongside Kidman, Schreiber and Fanning, the show also has a strong Irish contingent with Eve Hewson playing the role of bride to be Amelia Sacks, as well as Jack Reynor, of Midsommar and Sing Street, who also plays a member of the Garrison-Winbury clan. Both appear alongside hot-right-now actress Meghann Fahy, one of the break-out stars of season two of The White Lotus.
