The New Series On THE GLOSS Team’s Watchlist

The series we love and the seasons we can’t wait for this month …

The Girlfriend on Amazon Prime

Brilliantly directed by and starring Robin Wright (House of Cards), this hit six-episode limited series follows a dual-perspective between an overly protective mother and her son’s street smart new girlfriend, played by Olivia Cooke (Game of Thrones). The psychological thriller explores themes of love, greed and power, plus fabulous London interiors and a villa in Spain to die for …

The Morning Show on Apple TV

This award-winning drama, starring and executive produced by Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, comprises ten episodes released weekly until November 19. The highly anticipated new season sees returning heavyhitters Steve Carell, Jon Hamm and Emmy Award winner Billy Crudup (husband to Naomi Watts, who we loved in Lena Dunham’s show, Too Much) with new, familiar faces including Academy Award winners Marion Cotillard and Jeremy Irons. We highly recommend you catch up on the first three seasons if you haven’t already – you won’t be disappointed.

Slow Horses on Apple TV

THE GLOSS team favourite, this beloved British spy thriller is based on Mick Herron’s novels Slow HorsesDead LionsReal Tigers, Spook Street, London Rules and Joe Country. It’s been renewed for a sixth and seventh series based on Slough House and Bad Actors. A dysfunctional team of MI5 agents and their obnoxious boss, the notorious Jackson Lamb superbly played by Gary Oldman, navigate the espionage world’s smoke and mirrors to defend England from sinister forces. A stellar cast includes Kristin Scott Thomas, new dad Jack Lowden (Pride and Prejudice), Saskia Reeves (The Outrun) and more. The latest season returns with a bang when London is in the midst of a mayoral election … cue chaos.

Black Rabbit on Netflix

Also executive produced by both leading stars, Jude Law and Jason Bateman running around New York City has captivated audiences and critics alike, garnering polarising reviews on the believability of this duo. What do we think? It’s worth a watch! The story follows the owner of a restaurant hotspot who allows his problematic brother back in his life. Once he opens the door, however, he remembers why he closed it as his estranged sibling threatens to bring down everything the acclaimed restauranteur has built. Also starring John Ales (Euphoria, Sneaky Pete), Troy Kotsur (Coda) and Cleopatra Coleman (In The Shadow of The Moon).

The Walsh Sisters on RTÉ Player

We’re looking forward to this new Irish series adapted from Marian Keyes’ mega books Rachel’s Holiday and Anybody Out There by Stefanie Preissner (Can’t Cope, Won’t Cope). She leads the cast as one of the sisters alongside Louisa Harland (Derry Girls), Danielle Galligan (Spilt Milk), Caroline Menton (All Creatures Great and Small) and Máiréad Tyers (Dead Shot), with Emmy Award winning actor Aidan Quinn (Michael Collins, Practical Magic and many more!) and Carrie Crowley (An Cailín Ciúin) cast as their parents. The family of five sisters navigate dysfunctional relationships, parenthood, grief and addiction set against Ireland’s iconic backdrop. The perfect Derry Girls and Bad Sisters fusion.
