A flash of colour can give us a lift : see how vases of daffodils have cheered us through recent wintry days, and think how the late, great Iris Apfel layered vibrant colour via clothes, accessories, lipstick. We loved the vivacious two-tone nails at the Molly Goddard show (in collage above.) Try joyous flamingo pink and sorbet yellow nails via Pleasing polishes (www.pleasing.com). A bright scrunchie (try Hunza G’s), a super-saturated lip colour or a bold-coloured mascara, are easy and uncomplicated ways to introduce a hint of colour, even if your wardrobe remains resolutely neutral.

A bit of blush is the most immediate way to add a healthy glow to your skin – we love PS … Cream Blusher in Peach, €4, at Penneys stores. Now that it’s April, we are adding subtle self-tan back into our skincare, too: Pestle & Mortar’s Glow Drops are a fine Irish option (€21, at Kildare Village), or try PS … Instant Bronzing Drops, €4, at Penneys.

Rituals’ new limited-edition Ritual of Yozakura collection delivers a flash of colour to the bathroom, as well as an intoxicating warm cherry scent. Make a beeline for the Shimmering Body Oil (€25.90, at Rituals boutiques and Arnotts), which is delightfully pearly; it leaves a scented sheen on your skin.

This month we’re wearing Trinny London Lip2Cheek in Bright peony pink, to celebrate the arrival of the brand at Brown Thomas Dublin later this month. For soft yet wearable colour, we also swear by No 1 de Chanel Lip & Cheek Balm in Vibrant Coral (€40.50, at Boots).

For eyes, try a bolt from the blue with Chanel’s waterproof eyeliner in electric blue Bleu Abysse, or YSL’s coloured Lash Clash (€29; www.lookfantastic.ie).

We can colour-code our skincare, too. The soft and deeper pinks of Clarins glow-boosting Multi- Active Day Cream and Night Cream jars, (€62; www.clarins.ie) puts order on your skincare routine. US brand Glow Recipe celebrates fruity ingredients such as pineapple and pomegranate via brightly coloured wonky-shaped bottles. Even Augustinus Bader has turned its signature blue glass bottles to red for its new Geranium Rose Body Oil. @sarahhalliwellbeauty

THIS MONTH WE…

VISITED The House of Rituals flagship store in Amsterdam, with its state-ofthe- art Mind Spa and body treatments.

DISCOVERED the wonders of the Dyson Airstrait at the official launch event in Paris.

WORE La Mer’s luxe new Lip Volumiser oils, for a healthy shine with just a hint of a tint.

PARED BACK with No7 Define & Enhance Mascara (€17; www.boots.ie), to comb and lengthen lashes.

TRIED & TESTED: AYUNA AT FLORAISON

Dawn Hill is one of a few independent Irish skin experts we trust completely, as do several of our beauty panel. Get on the waitlist for a facial treatment at Floraison to try out Hill’s careful edit of niche luxury brands, including Biologique Recherche and the glorious Vintner’s Daughter – you will be converted. When she enthused about Spanish skincare line Ayuna (tagline “Less is beauty”), I tried it immediately – and yes, it is the real deal. Ayuna’s hero prebiotic toner, called The Facial, exfoliates (with a trio of acids), brightens, softens and evens skin. It’s €100 and, like BR’s famed P50, has a vinegary smell, but it absolutely works. In Hill we trust. 16 Fitzwilliam Street Upper, Dublin 2; www.floraison.ie.
