Catrice is a good bet if you’re looking for bargainous liners. The liquid liner is €2.50 in selected pharmacies, for a generous 1.7ml. This one has a pretty fine nib, so you’ll need a steady hand, but there’s a thicker pen version, too, called “It’s Easy”, which is even waterproof. www.catrice.eu.

Kash Beauty is an Irish-owned beauty brand, which manufactures in China, and one of its newest products is the DuoFlex Precision Liner & Eraser in black or brown. These eyeliners have an “eraser pen” on the other end. Personally, I don’t rate the “eraser” (basically glycerin) on the other end, though it’s an interesting idea – for me, it just smudges any mistakes around, and you’ll have to use a wipe or cotton bud anyway. I do kind of like the inkpen weight and feel of this pen. But note that, even though it’s bigger than most liquid liner pens, you’re only getting just 0.45ml of liner for €21.95. www.kashbeauty.com

McGrath’s products are expensive but they do work, featuring her make-up artist expertise.
