There was glamour in abundance at The Gloss Gala 2022, in association with Goodbody, at the RDS on November 8. The audience, for one thing – we have never seen so many high heels in one room, along with great outfits (from pinstripe suits to high-octane sequinned numbers and strapless dresses).

As for the catwalk, the Brown Sugar team were backstage for all the looks to accompany the fabulous fashion, with make-up manager Dearbhla Keenan and team on make-up, and artistic director Christian Shannon and team on hair. The mood was pulled-back, effortless glamour, with the healthiest-looking skin and shining hair. We can only aspire to looking this pulled-together for work … Being in the hands of the experts helps. Here’s how the award-winning Brown Sugar team delivered the gorgeous catwalk looks:

THE MAKE-UP

Dearbhla Keenan and her team prepped the models’ skin with Embryolisse Lait Concentré, followed by Sculpted by Aimee Beauty Base Pearl to ensure a luminous glow. To keep skin looking natural and hydrated through the night, they applied YSL NU Bare Look Tint, which has the lightness of a tinted moisturiser. Crème contour and blusher helps to frame and lift the face. On the eyes, Charlotte Tilbury Hypnotising Pop Shots on the eyelid provides instant sheen and glamour, while graphic liner at the corner of the eye gives contemporary definition and enhances the eye shape. The team defined the models’ lips according to each one’s skintone, lip undertone and shape using a vinyl, longwear liquid lipstick. Brows were kept fluffy and soft.

THE HAIR

Christian Shannon and his team prepped the hair with Kerastase Elixir Oil and TecNi.Art Pli to smooth and set, and create texture to hold everything in place. They parted hair at the side, carefully brushing and smoothing it into a low ponytail. Wrapping the bobbin with the hair from the ponytail gives a sleek and lovely finish. To finish, there was plenty of L’Oreal Infinium Extra Hold Hairspray and TecNi.Art Ringlight Shine Spray.
