On style, food, travel and inspiration …
Killian wears a vintage corduroy suit by YSL, bought at auction and tailored by Paul Henry in Dublin 2.
Who? Killian McNulty, antiques dealer, whose store on Francis Street, Dublin 8 specialises in mid-century furniture from around the world.
Your style? Lately, I’m wearing Japanese denims by Edwin with a sweater by Acne Studios or my favourite Maison Margiela hoodie. In warmer weather, a linen shirt from Zara or short-sleeved shirts from Ted Baker. I have an obsession with Saucony Jazz sneakers – I have them in multiple colours.
Style icon? I admire well-dressed men – I wish I had their boldness! The late Mark Quinn dressed so well, and artist John Redmond always looks effortlessly sharp. A friend in LA, Nic Bini, designs incredible homes and dresses just as impressively. Stanley Tucci is definitely up there – he never misses.
Investment pieces? A navy blue Acne Studios sweater from Brown Thomas. I remember trying it on and walking over to my wife, Niamh – her reaction was the confirmation I needed. I feel great every time I wear it. Shopping? I don’t shop often, but when I do, I buy well-made pieces that last. I shop at Brown Thomas and at Genius on Clarendon Street for jeans.
The Irish restaurant scene is incredible right now – from takeaways to Michelin-starred restaurants, there’s so much exciting flavour out there.
Wish list? Two things: a dressing gown by Daniel Hanson (I met Nick Hanson, who now runs the brand, and his warmth and craftsmanship left a lasting impression) and a bespoke suit from Dublin tailor Fionn O’Dubhghaill.
Favourite accessories? A Tom Ford belt my wife gave me for Christmas and a pair of leather gloves from my father.
Who cuts your hair? Emilia at The Grooming Rooms – she’s fantastic.
Favourite apps? Instagram and TikTok for work and inspiration (especially cooking); Spotify for podcasts, mostly politics and food.
How do you unwind? Cooking, walking the dog, watching TV with my wife and kids – simple things that let me switch off.
Favourite indulgence? Champagne, wine, port, craft beer, shared with friends; a nice cheeseboard.
Brunch or dinner? Dinner. The Irish restaurant scene is incredible right now – from takeaways to Michelin-starred restaurants, there’s so much exciting flavour out there.
Signature dish? My Sunday roast gets top marks, and I make a mean burger, but the classics I grew up with are always the most satisfying.
Next up? Travel, ideally to big furniture markets in cities with great food scenes. Marseille is high on the list right now.
