Discover Trousseau’s Beautiful Bridal Accessories handmade in Ireland

A ‘Trousseau’ is a collection of “clothing, lingerie and other belongings collected by a bride for her marriage.” And that’s exactly what Russian-born Irish-based Olga Doyle creates with her newly launched brand, where garters become beautifully crafted creations designed to last forever.

Seeing a gap in the market, Doyle, who has a background in tech working with Microsoft, Google and Airbnb, decided to take a step back from her busy lifestyle to embrace a slower way of living and creating. Making, mending and sewing has been intrinsic to her life ever since she was a young girl stitching and sewing alongside her mother and grandmother in Russia, who taught her the basic skills necessary to make her own clothes.

Her return to Ireland after a stint in Singapore made her realise it was time to embrace her creative side. After she struggled to find a handmade Irish garter as a wedding gift for a close friend, she quit her job, packed her bag and went to Paris in search of the fabrics that would become her first Trousseau creations. What followed was a small business set up to create one-of-a-kind pieces designed to be passed down through generations. The concept, to revive a traditional item and make it appeal to the modern bride.

Thanks to social media, weddings are becoming about so much more than just the day, with pictures of every little detail being shared online. On the morning of your wedding, your photographer will likely be capturing intimate moments as you get ready with your closest friends and family. These occasions have begun to require outfits in themselves. Enter Trousseau’s latest creations, Irish-made robes to be worn by brides and bridesmaids. Made from an organic bamboo fabric that gives a velvet effect, the robes are designed to be worn not just as loungewear but day-to-day too, so you are sure to get good wear out of this piece long after your special day.

So if you are a bridesmaid searching for the perfect gift for your best friend’s big day, a gorgeous garter or gown is a really special gift. Even more so when it is handmade in Ireland using one-of-a-kind fabrics. From vintage French lace to the softest Spanish cotton, these creations encompass the bride’s something old, something new and something blue with their subtle detailing.

Make your purchase safe in the knowledge that you are buying something handmade in Ireland that your bride-to-be will have and hold forever.
