Whatever the weather is doing, these scented candles are guaranteed to lift the spirits and enliven the atmosphere at home …
For this candle, perfumer and La Bougie Founder Lucy Hagerty was inspired by an unexpected trek through a rainforest in search of a cocoa plantation in the Windward Islands, in the West Indies. “I wanted to visit a cocoa plantation to understand the whole process of making chocolate from tree to bar, and make chocolate the hero note. Watching cocoa beans ferment under sacks gave rise to a skeleton of an idea that quickly gained pace. Weaving traces of dark chocolate with hypnotic jasmine absolute, I created a fragrance that will surprise you in its complexity. I have fallen in love all over again.” @labougieofficial

Travel from Home Candle Collection, Assouline
Created with perfumer Jérôme Epinette, the Assouline family reflected on memories related to six travel destinations – Mykonos, Tulum, Marrakech, Ibiza, Gstaad and the Moon – to create this chic new collection. Each candle box is inspired by the publishing house’s iconic book covers with candles featuring the motif of each destination. This is the perfect addition to any home library. @assouline
“Soilse” meaning light or brightness in Gaelic, was set up by Karen Lavelle, former design director of the Gap in Dundalk in 2013. Her passion for the outdoors led to the blending of individual scents inspired by her travels around Ireland. Her latest soy wax candle is Trá Bán – a bright, crisp sunny fragrance with marine floral scent notes. It evokes stretches of golden sand along the Irish coastline and combines top notes of bergamot and orange with coconut, vanilla, amber and almond notes. @soilse_candle_company
On a Date Memory: Provence, 2014, Maison Margiela Fragrances
The latest Maison Margiela ‘Replica’ fragrance is a collaboration between master perfumer, Carlos Benaim, and master sommelier, Manuel Peyrondet. Their aim was to evoke the vineyards of Provence and in particular to recreate the particular scents of rosé and red wine. Combining the scent of ripe grapes, both the perfume and the candle are luminous with notes of rose petals, bergamot, blackcurrant, patchouli and an earthy accord. @maisonmargielafragrances

Geranium Vetiver, Bread and Weather
Ella Kennedy is an excellent example of someone pivoting as a result of the pandemic. A former private chef, Kennedy decided to change career using the converted barn at her home in Co Wicklow as a laboratory. She set about creating small batches of candles and soaps using neither synthetic nor petrochemical ingredients. “Everything I make uses high quality essential oils for scent, soy wax and cotton wicks.” Geranium Vetiver delivers a rich, floral and earthy aroma redolent of lazy summer afternoons. The three wick candles are a luxurious treat or centrepiece. @breadandweather
