See Inside This Stunning Seafront Family Home in Skerries, Co Dublin

Think Contemporary designed a functional home, with luxury elements, for this family of five in Skerries…

Think Contemporary, a Dublin-based interior architecture and design studio, were engaged to design this stunning three-storey seafront family home in Skerries, Co Dublin. The family wanted the design to be functional but elevated in design so that it could have that luxurious feel.

The ground floor is a large open plan area consisting of the kitchen and dining area and the living space. Think Contemporary cleverly divided the space into zones so that the two areas could be private from one another, perfect for busy family life.

They separated the kitchen and dining space from the living space by incorporating feature slats. The use of materials was very important in the design. They introduced a mix of timber, stone and brass to contrast nicely with the bolder colours that they had incorporated on the walls, chairs and through the art work. The banquette seating is a clever design choice for a large family.

The kitchen boasts function and style, with an induction hob, double oven, beautiful and durable work surfaces from Egan Stone and reeded timber cabinetry, which is very on trend.

By keeping it open plan, the family are able to gather together and work on their individual daily tasks like homework or cooking in the same space.

The lounge on the first floor is the family’s favourite space, and that comes as no surprise. The floor-to-ceiling windows show the beautiful, expansive views over the sea, creating a naturally lit space where the family can enjoy their passions like music and entertaining. The sofa and armchair in the lounge are from DFS, while the rug is from Rugs.ie. Hicken Lighting took care of a lot of the lighting seen throughout the house.

They saw the lounge area as a space in which they could host, something they love to do, and wanted it to have the look of a stylish bar.

This theme continues into the master bedroom and ensuite, where the homeowners wanted the space to feel like a five-star hotel. The design team kept the colours very calm and soothing in this space. The chest of drawers is from Next Home.

And they brought the drama with these veined tiles from Tile Spex in the ensuite.
