This maximalist party penthouse is a kaleidoscope of colour…

A second home for owners Dan and Linda Kiely, the emphasis in this penthouse renovation in Dublin 4 was on creating a space to host friends as well as celebrate their love of fashion, art and design. “As designers, it was a chance to play, the bolder the better, looking at the project more as a high-end cocktail bar or members’ club than family home,” explains Roisin Lafferty. The apartment, a small two-bed with open-plan living and dining area, was turned on its head. A master bedroom with fully upholstered walk-in wardrobe was created from the two bedrooms. The hallway was opened up with the addition of glass doors, and the kitchen redesigned. The sitting room, merging fashion and design, was inspired by its orange Todd Merrill sofa. The kitchen, with inset solid brass archways, features a central blue onyx island unit, surrounded by marble counters, shelves and framing, wrapped on all sides with full-height highgloss lacquered doors made by Oikos. KLD designed the floor pattern, made by Miller Brothers, from quartzite, marble and onyx. The bronze ceiling-mounted mirror frames a vintage Italian chandelier.

The sunroom features a sofa by Joseph Walsh and Philippe Hetier. The bespoke brass display cabinet was designed by KLD and made by Oikos.
The living room features an orange Todd Merrill sofa, bespoke coffee table by Joseph Walsh and a custom brass divider screen, made with six silk scarf panels. The rug is Diane von Furstenberg’s Climbing Leopard design from The Rug Company; the chandelier is vintage Italian.
In the bedroom, the high-gloss wardrobes with brass handles were made by Oikos. A fixed curtain in a Dedar fabric hangs behind a custom-designed headboard upholstered in Lizzo velvet. The pendant light is from Magic Circus Editions and side table from Artemis.
