Last night The Gloss Interiors, in association with Minima, hosted a design evening with PATRICIA URQUIOLA …
Almost 200 guests gathered at Minima on Hanover Quay to hear world-renowned Spanish architect and designer Patricia Urquiola discuss her inspiration, her practice, her process.
Urquiola’s projects include interior design for the Room Mate Giulia Hotel in Milan, Il Sereno Hotel in Como and the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Barcelona; showrooms and installations for BMW, Cassina, Gianvito Rossi, H&M, Missoni, Molteni and Panerai; design for Alessi, B&B Italia, Baccarat, Boffi, Cassina, Driade, Ferragamo, Flos, Georg Jensen, Glas Italia, Haworth, Kartell, Kettal, Louis Vuitton, Molteni, Moroso and Rosenthal, among many others.
Barely drawing breath for an exhilarating 45 minutes, Urquiola spoke with great energy and passion about working with people she loves, about pushing herself out of her comfort zone and being open to new projects which challenge her personally and professionally and creating collaborations based on trust and a shared desire to innovate. The audience of architects, designers and design devotees listened attentively, her creative energy both uplifting and energising.
Urquiola’s work is displayed in museums and collections, such as MoMA in New York, the Musée des Arts Decoratifs in Paris, the Museum of Design in Zurich, the Vitra Design Museum in Basel, the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and the Stedelijk in Amsterdam. She has won several international prizes and awards.
