The internet went into a tailspin yesterday with the news that And Just Like That has been renewed for a second season. The announcement came via a press release and a video posted to the And Just Like That Instagram account (watch it below).  

Star of the show Sarah Jessica Parker marked the announcement on social media by sharing a cast photo from the premiere of season one. The post thanked fans who are, according to Parker, the beating heart of the show. “Thank you to our audience. Plain and simple. You are our heartbeat. We love you so.” 

While season one of And Just Like That received mixed reviews, eliciting quite a love-hate response amongst fans of Sex And The City, the response to the announcement has generally been one of excitement. (Perhaps, right now, we’re all in need of some good escapist TV). Speaking of the renewal, executive producer Michael Patrick King has said, “I am delighted and excited to tell more stories about these vibrant, bold characters, played by these powerful, amazing actors.”

The question on everyone’s lips, however, is will a second season give Kim Cattrall the opportunity to jump on the AJLT bandwagon and reprise her role as Samantha? Watch this space. So far, HBO Max has just referred to stars and executive producers Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis in terms of characters. However, fans of the show will recall that season one ended with Carrie and Samantha arranging to meet for cocktails during Carrie’s trip to Paris. In the meantime, we’re hoping there’ll be less cringe-worthy moments (we’re still trying to scrub Miranda Hobbes’ now famous line: “I’m craving me some Che” from memory) and plenty more amazing fashion.
