Star Jacob Elordi takes on a new role …
Chanel’s star men’s fragrance, Bleu de Chanel, has a new face. And who else could it be but Jacob Elordi, the star of the moment. With fellow Australian Margot Robbie as the current ambassador of Chanel No5, it follows that the star of Wuthering Heights is stepping up for the brand too. Oscar-nominated for Frankenstein, Elordi takes the reins from Timothée Chalamet, the face of the scent since 2023.
Jacob said of the news; “Bleu de Chanel has strong ties to cinema. The filmmakers and actors who have collaborated with the House before me are people I deeply respect and admire. Being able to become part of this story is an honour.”
Kind of Blue
What does Bleu smell like? The original eau de toilette, created by Jacques Polge, launched in 2010, has kept its position in the top few men’s fragrances for good reason. If you want to smell cleaner, fresher and classier than you really are, this ink-blue bottle is what to turn to!
There have been various iterations of Bleu, the most recent being last summer’s L’Exclusif version (from €177), created by Olivier Polge (the inhouse perfumer at Chanel since 2015, and son of Jacques). Imagine smooth, luxurious sandalwood and cistus labdanum, an aromatic resin. Other versions of Bleu emphasise different elements of the original fragrance: the eau de parfum, for example, is a warm aromatic-woody fragrance that pairs sandalwood with notes of amber cedar and tonka bean.
There are various formats, too, from glorious giant blue bottles that look like sculptures on your bathroom shelf to the Twist & Spray travel Parfum – handy for every gym bag. There’s also an intriguing All-Over Fragrance Balm (€70) for the hands, hair and beard, designed to make the fragrance’s notes last longer.
Keep all this in mind for Father’s Day in June – all the men in our life could be a bit more Elordi. @chanelofficial
